AI Is Creating “Doom Loops” All Over the Economy
Unredacted documents in the New York Times lawsuit against Microsoft and OpenAI show the executives knew. One internal Microsoft document: “Our AI content strategy has started a ‘doom loop’ that will hurt the performance of our models and the entire web at the same time. It is highly unusual that an end-product threatens the economic foundations of its essential suppliers.” Another: “Millions of people around the world will soon consider large models ‘hoovering up’ all their work to be an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions.”
The loop is everywhere. ChatGPT and Gemini summarize journalism without sending readers to it, and the independent press is being wiped out. More than half the open web is now AI slop. 200,000 creative-industry jobs lost in four years, by the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ count. AI music crowds out musicians. Job seekers use AI to flood recruiters who use AI to screen them, and “more AI use begets more AI use, to no one’s benefit.” Students offload their thinking to the machine while Brookings finds the risks massively outweigh the benefits. The snake eats its own tail, and the people who built it reap the gains.
Technocrats are stealing the world’s data for their own AI training advantage while killing the golden goose in the process. That lack of ethics and morality is seen everywhere in the world of Technocracy. They have no conscience about doing anything wrong, and that is the problem. Read up on psychopathy.
Crucible of Tokens documents the same instinct applied to property: the biggest heist of private ownership in world history.
