The creation of large “metropolitan centers” in otherwise rural settings is abhorrent to the PEOPLE speaking at this meeting. They don’t like what they see happening to “their” community (many of them are relatively recent transplants themselves, who have overrun the Northwest Territories fleeing what they see as societal collapse). Seems eerily similar to the many upright citizens from socialist or communist countries around the world who came to America to escape oppression and are now screaming bloody murder that it’s happening here in America!

The mass exodus to the North West from many parts of America has been going on for decades, but in earnest over the last several years.

Massive wildfires in central and northern California have displaced tens of thousands. The political, social, business and economic environments in many large urban areas has become intolerable to many Americans, especially since the health emergency.
Those who are upwardly mobile enough to move, do so.
Many have lost everything, and are struggling for survival on the streets. Having arrived from warmer climes, their first winters here can be “stunning”.

Many natives have also been displaced by rising housing costs, the “Landlord class” taking profits, gobbling up all the new money – only to have inflation take back whatever margins were gained.
Huge corporate developers are grabbing up land to build on, greasing palms and pushing through regardless the ability of the local often aged infrastructure to handle the growth.

Things are changing.
Be patient, loving, kind and generous, and… STAY FROSTY.
